Letter to Myself

Dear 8 year old Tai,

You might be wondering why your future self is contacting you. So don’t freak out! We’re good. But I do want to give you some words of encouragement.

Cherish your friendships. They may not all last into your adult years but be good to the people that have your back without any questions asked. There will be times in your life where there will be some negativity so make sure you have the right people in your corner.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. You won’t look stupid or dumb if you need more clarification on a matter. Asking questions prove that you want to learn more and you’re willing to do what it takes to make sure you’re well informed.

Don’t worry about what other people will think of you. You were formed and born unique. So if you like comic books, read them. If you’re into Sci-fi, watch those movies. If you want to pretend you’re a superhero from another dimension during recess, act like it. If you’d much rather hang out with the kid(s) that share your same interests do that. Who cares what others think. Care what you think about yourself.

Pay attention in class and do your homework. Yea of course you want to watch television, go outside or play with your dolls, but finish your school work first. Take care of your priorities first so you won’t have to worry about catching up later. Your friends will still be there to welcome you outside.

And lastly,

Be Yourself. Be your awesome, amazing, creative, funny, silly, loving, wonderful self. Whatever dreams and goals you have don’t be afraid to go for them. Hold on to your confidence. Run with the encouragement you get from others. And love yourself.  You’re super dope!!!!! So don’t allow anyone to tell you otherwise

Sincerely

Future you 🙂

P.S. We’re pretty dope in the future too!!!
