It’s crazy how looking at these particular words bring me back to a time where I’ve felt all of these emotions at some point in my life or even all at the same time.
And I’m not just referring to simple situations, like not being able to get comfy in your bed, or eating something you shouldn’t have so therefore you feel uneasy or maybe being in an elevator with a quite a few individuals and you feel cramped.
I’m specifically speaking mentally.
How many times have you been in a situation where you just felt uncomfortable and didn’t know how to put yourself back in your comfort zone?! Because let’s face it, being in our comfort zone is safe. It’s familiar. It’s a place where we can allow who or what we want in our “clubhouse of familiarity.”
However, in recent years I’ve found that when I’ve been taken out of my comfort zone, not always through my doing, it did feel like my life was somewhat in shambles. I couldn’t find my way back to my safe, secluded, welcoming comfort zone. But in finding my way back, I always found something better. An upgrade if you will.
I leveled up.
I was going through my “discomfort zone” in order to level up. You see, we go through seasons of pain, uneasiness, trials, loss so we can come out stronger in order to better handle the next level or season of negativity, whenever that comes.
Life can be comparable to a video game. Sometimes we pass a level easy with no problem and other times we lose but we are given another chance to get through that same level or something similar. Better this time around. We learned what we did wrong the first time, so we can change the way we handle situations the next time around.
I still go through my seasons. And believe me I still have my moments where I’m like “when is this going to be over?!?” and then I allow myself a silent, mini 3 second tantrum and then I push through.
I have to remind myself that when I start to feel uncomfortable in a situation, it just means that particular season is coming to an end and I’m about to level up.
